RAMALLAH, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- Israel on Tuesday issued demolition notices for a Palestinian school and some commercial buildings in the West Bank town of Silwad, northeast of Ramallah.

Silwad Mayor Abdel-Rahman Saleh told Palestinian news agency WAFA that Israeli army forces stormed the town and handed demolition notices for the al-Salam school built 10 years ago, an iron factory that is 20 years old and a commercial structure at the southern entrance of the town.

The Israeli forces also left a notice for the demolition of a house owned by Palestinian expatriate Saleh Najjar, Saleh said.

Another homeowner identified as Malek Hamid was previously notified of the decision to demolish his house, said the mayor.

No reason was given for the demolitions, the WAFA report said.

Israeli authorities have often demolished Palestinian homes and buildings in the occupied West Bank, citing security reasons. Such actions often lead to clashes between Palestinians and Israeli security forces.
