BEIJING, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- Wei Minzhou, a former senior legislator in northwest China's Shaanxi Province, has been put under investigation on suspicion of accepting bribes, the Supreme People's Procuratorate announced Tuesday.

Wei had been vice head of the Shaanxi Provincial People's Congress Standing Committee since January 2017.

He has been placed under "coercive measures," which may include summons by force, bail, residential surveillance, detention or arrest.
