MADRID, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- Around 200 sub-Saharan migrants were able to force their way into the Spanish north-African enclave of Ceuta in the early hours of Monday morning when they stormed a frontier post.

Spanish Civil Guards report that the incident, which happened at 6 a.m. local time, saw the immigrants run through the Tarajal frontier post, which separates Morocco from what is effectively European Union territory.

They add that what is a complete change of strategy from the usual tactics of either attempting to enter the enclave hidden inside vehicles or climbing over the 6-meter high border fence, surprised both themselves and Moroccan security forces.

Indeed both Civil Guards and Moroccan forces had been covering the border fence after receiving information of an imminent attempt to cross into Ceuta and those left at the frontier post were unable to stop the avalanche.

The immigrants then made their way to the Center for Temporary Residence for Immigrants in the town.

The past week also saw a further group of 73 immigrants' force their way into Ceuta in what was the first major attempt to cross the border between the enclave and Morocco since February.
