TOKYO, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks advanced Monday morning as a strong showing at the end of last week on Wall Street, coupled with the yen's retreat against the U.S. dollar, bolstered investor sentiment.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 125.79 points, or 0.63 percent, from Friday to 20,078.12.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 9.76 points, or 0.60 percent, to 1,641.21.
Transport equipment, electric power and gas, and brokerage-liked shares comprised those that gained the most by the morning break.
