1 soldier killed, 5 wounded during military training in Ukraine

KIEV, Aug. 4 (Xinhua) -- One soldier was killed and five others were wounded Friday during a routine training at a military facility outside the Ukrainian capital, the army said.

The accident occurred at around 11:00 a.m. local time (0800 GMT), when an artillery shell exploded during the shooting practices, the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces said in a statement, without giving details.

The wounded soldiers were hospitalized with injuries of varying severity, it said.

A special commission has conducted an investigation at the site.
