BEIRUT, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) -- Hezbollah and Syria's al-Qaida-linked al-Nusra Front completed prisoners swap on Wednesday, with release of 3 Hezbollah fighters in return for 3 al-Nusra prisoners, the National News Agency (NNA) reported.

The swap took place in the Wadi Hmayyed area on the outskirts of the northeastern border town of Arsal, the NNA said.

The three al-Nusra prisoners from the central Roumieh prison, two non-convicts and one who has finished his jail term, were swapped for Hezbollah captives.

General Security Chief Abbas Ibrahim, who is playing a key role in the negotiations, assured that all three Hezbollah fighters were in good health.

The three Hezbollah captives, identified as Mahmoud Harb, Hussam Fakih and Hafez Zakhim, were kidnapped when they lost their way during the cease-fire between Hezbollah and al-Nusra for their battles in Arsal's outskirts last month.

Lebanon's General Security, the Lebanese army and the Lebanese Red Cross supervised the transfer in accordance with the implementation of the second phase of negotiations, the NNA said.

The deal also includes the release of another five Hezbollah captives captured in Aleppo in 2015, at a time when the evacuation of civilians from the Syrian towns of Kefraya and al-Foua has started.

The exchange and evacuation deal came in the wake of a military offensive by Hezbollah fighters and Syrian troops, during which they captured border areas between the two countries and left hundreds of Nusra fighters besieged in a small rugged mountain area.

The fighting ended with a cease-fire on Thursday.
