LJUBLJANA, July 31 (Xinhua) -- Slovenia attracted nearly two million tourists in the first half of the year, an increase of 15.1 percent on the same period a year ago, while overnights in the period rose by 12.2 percent to almost 4,795,000, latest figures showed.
The data from the Statistics Office also show that in June alone visitor numbers rose by 27 percent year-on-year to 487,000, as overnights were up by 22 percent to nearly 1.2 million.
Of the 487,000 visitors registered in June, almost 365,000 came from abroad, which marks an increase of 32 percent on the same month a year ago. The number of visitors from Slovenia increased by 1 percent to 122,000.
In terms of overnights, most foreign visitors in June were from Germany (17 percent), followed by those from Austria (11 percent), Italy (10 percent), Britain and the Netherlands (5 percent each), and Russia (4 percent).
