CAPE TOWN, July 29 (Xinhua) -- The following are news items in South African major news outlets on Saturday.

-- A decision on the proposed funding for the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) will only be known after Treasury's Internal Committee meeting taking place next Friday. That's according to the Communications Department.

The SABC is reported to have asked for a bailout worth billions of rand. Unions were told this week that salary increases for the year were on hold as the loan had not yet been granted. (South African Broadcasting Corporation)

-- African National Congress (ANC) Treasurer General Zweli Mkhize said on Saturday that those implicated in the "GuptaLeaks" which expose corruption involving government officials need to be held to account.

He said they should subject themselves to a commission of inquiry so the country can find out the truth behind continuing claims that the state has been captured. (News24)

-- St John's College in Johannesburg on Saturday apologized to its pupils and the public for the way it handled the case of a teacher found guilty of racism.

The college said the teacher found guilty of racism tendered his resignation after there was a mutual agreement that he should go. (Eyewitness News)
