RAMALLAH, July 28 (Xinhua) -- Israeli soldiers killed a Palestinian man on Friday afternoon near the West Bank city of Bethlehem, medics said.
An Israeli army force opened fire at a Palestinian young man at an Israeli army barrier south of the city and killed him, medics from the Palestinian Red Crescent Society told Xinhua.
They said the Israeli army prevented the medical crews from reaching the man to provide the needed medical aid.
The Israeli army, however, said the Palestinian young man tired to stab a number of soldiers at the barrier, adding that the soldiers immediately shot him dead.
The shooting came as clashes broke out on the outskirts of Bethlehem, where 12 Palestinians were injured by the gunfire of Israeli troops, who responded with fire when young Palestinian demonstrators started to throw stones at them.
