China enters last four at Women's Basketball Asian Cup

BENGALURU, India, July 27 (Xinhua) -- China defeated the Philippines 117-43, becoming one of the last four of the 2017 Women's Basketball Asian Cup here on Thursday.

Chinese rising star Li Yueru contributed her splendid play, scoring 17 points and grabbing 12 rebounds for the title favorite. What's more, entering the semis made China qualify to the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup 2018 in Spain.

The Filipino never tasted the lead, trailed by 20 points by the end of the first period, and only got two points in the entire second period.

China went on enlarging its advantages during the second half. Huang Sijing had an all-around performance with 15 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists, while Li Meng contributed 12 points, 5 boards and 5 assists.

China led a 9-1 run at the beginning of the forth quarter, tasting kinds of tactics before the final whistle. At last, China locked the score at 117-43.

In the other three quarterfinals on Thursday, South Korea defeated New Zealand 64-49, Australia won over the Democratic People's Republic of Korea 81-48, Japan beat Chinese Tapei 73-57.

According to the schedule, China will face old rival Japan in the semifinal.

Japan ever beat China 85-50 in the final of the 2015 FIBA Asia Women's Championship.
