PARIS, July 27 (Xinhua) -- French President Emmanuel Macron on Thursday announced he would set up the so-called "hot spots" in Libya to better treat asylum requests of thousands of Africans who are fleeing war, poverty at their native countries.
"The idea is to create hot spots in Libya in order to prevent people from taking crazy risks while not all of them are eligible for asylum," Macron said.
Stressing the need "to stabilize Libya" where political and security vacuum prompted an unprecedented migration crisis, the French president vowed to set up the registration centres for asylum seekers "this summer."
"The European countries are very reluctant. We will try to do that with Europe, but France will do it," he added during a visit to a refugees centre in Orleans, central France.
In order to overcome the "migration challenge," the French government pledged to reduce average time to process asylum requests from 14 months to 6 months and improve cooperation with European neighbors to fix the issue.
