RIO DE JANEIRO, July 26 (Xinhua) -- Brazil's Presidential Chief of Staff Eliseu Padilha said on Wednesday that he is absolutely sure that the vote by Chamber of Deputies next week will clear President Michel Temer's name.

Brazil's Prosecutor General Rodrigo Janot formally accused Temer of corruption in June. Under Brazilian law, the congress must vote on whether to allow the tribunal to try the leader. A two-thirds majority is needed.

Such a process began with a vote in the House's Commission on Constitution, Justice and Citizenship on July 13, which Temer survived.Padilha believes the full vote will have the same outcome.

"We are sure the House will reject the charges, just like the commission did. We are absolutely sure of that," said Padilha.

According to Brazilian media, the government managed to easily win the commission vote by replacing members of the commission who intended to vote against Temer.

However, such horse-trading cannot take place in the full chamber, and next week's vote is more challenging for the Temer administration.

Temer and the government have been courting the undecided representatives to vote in the president's favor.

Some officials accused the government of spending a large sum of money to finance the allied parties' representatives. However, the government denies any act of vote-buying.
