China's gaming sales up 26.7 pct in H1

SHANGHAI, July 26 (Xinhua) -- China'a gaming market sales revenue hit 99.78 billion yuan (14.8 billion U.S. dollars) in the first half of 2017, up 26.7 percent year on year, according to a report released Wednesday.

China has 507 million gamers, up 3.6 percent year on year, said the report released at China Digital Entertainment Congress which runs from Wednesday to Friday.

In the first half, mobile game sales accounted for 56.3 percent of the total revenue, up 49.8 percent, it said.

Zhang Hongsen, deputy head of the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television, said that China's digital gaming industry keeps increasing and has growing social influence.

The industry should improve aesthetics, reflect socialist core values and spread kindness and positive energy, said Zhang, adding that enterprises should maintain social responsibility as young people are their main consumers.

He called for increased innovation in such fields and supervision from local authorities.
