BEIJING -- China will continue "seeking progress while maintaining stability" for its economic work in the second half of 2017, according to a meeting of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee Monday.

The meeting, presided over by Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, stressed that China will implement a proactive fiscal policy and prudent monetary policy with supply-side structural reform as the main theme in the latter half of the year.

BEIJING -- A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said Monday that there has been no territorial dispute in the Doklam area.

Last month, Indian border troops crossed the China-India boundary at the Sikkim section and entered Chinese territory, obstructing normal Chinese border troop activity in Doklam.

KUALA LUMPUR -- China's growth will continue to be a key driver for a firming recovery of the world economy, the chief economist of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) said Monday.

Maurice Obstfeld, the IMF's economic counsellor and director of research, made the remarks in an exclusive interview with Xinhua as the IMF revised up China's growth forecast for 2017 and 2018 to 6.7 percent and 6.4 percent respectively.

BEIJING -- The former secretary of Chongqing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Sun Zhengcai is under investigation for "serious discipline violation" by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the CPC, according to a decision by the CPC Central Committee.

It was announced on July 15 that Chen Min'er had been appointed to replace Sun.

BEIJING -- China and Russia will hold their 13th round of strategic security consultations during the visit of Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev.

The two countries will also hold the fourth China-Russia meeting of institutionalized cooperation in law enforcement and security, during Patrushev's stay in Beijing from July 26 to 27, according to Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lu Kang.

ABOARD KEXUE -- The Chinese-developed underwater robot "Tansuo" conducted its maiden test dive in the South China Sea Monday.

The robot is 3.5 meters long and 1.5 meters wide and can dive to a depth of 4,500 meters. It will conduct 20 hours of collaborative operations with the unmanned submersible "Faxian" in the South China Sea.
