TOKYO, July 25 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks edged lower on Tuesday morning reversing earlier gains as investors hedged positions ahead of upcoming corporate earnings reports and as they await the latest news from the U.S. Federal Reserve policy meeting.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average edged down 25.56 points, or 0.13 percent, from Monday to 19,950.11.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, shed 4.06 points, or 0.25 percent, to 1,617.51.
Air transportation, construction, and pulp and paper-linked issues led those that declined the most by the morning break.
