GENEVA, July 24 (Xinhua) -- Local police of the Swiss town of Schaffhausen on Monday announced on Facebook that a chainsaw attack in which at least five people were injured was not a terror attack.

The police said that they were alerted about the attack at about 10:39 (0839 GMT) Monday morning.

At least five people were injured, two seriously, in an attack which occurred Monday morning in the northern Swiss town of Schaffhausen, the suspect was still at large.

The owner of a shop in the area told local media that the attack was by a man with a chainsaw, this detail was later confirmed by the police.

In a Facebook announcement the police said that a man with a chainsaw entered an office building in the suburbs of the town and injured several people.

The suspect has been described by the police as a male, about 190 cm tall, wears bald, rough appearance and "dangerous".

Schaffhausen is a Swiss town on the upper Rhine River near the German border, with a population of around 36,000.
