MADRID, July 24 (Xinhua) -- Spanish Prime Minister, Mariano Rajoy is willing to answer "all of the questions" asked when he makes an historic appearance at the Spanish High Court on Wednesday, according to People's Party general coordinator Fernandez Martinez-Maillo, who spoke to the press on Monday.

Rajoy is to become the first acting Spanish Prime Minister to appear in court when he gives evidence in the ongoing trial over the first part of the "Gurtel" cash-for-favors corruption scandal in which his right-wing People's Party (PP) is deeply implicated.

The Gurtel case covers the years 1999 to 2005 when Rajoy's party is thought to have received illegal payments in return for granting contracts for public works and events organization to companies belonging to an organization headed by Francisco Correa.

Rajoy's name also appears on a list of cash payments apparently made by former PP treasurer Luis Barcenas in the unofficial accounts Barcenas used to keep track of money received by illegal payments to the PP.

During the period 1999 to 2005, Rajoy held the posts of education minister, deputy prime minister, interior minister and government spokesman, as well as being the PP candidate in the 2004 general election.

As such, he can expect to be asked about his party's accounts and accounting system, the way it financed election campaigns, as well as why his name appears on Barcenas' list.

Martinez-Maillo insisted that Rajoy would answer the questions with "absolute normality."

Martinez-Maillo repeated the argument that Rajoy should not have been called to testify as some of the charges relate to the financing of election campaigns in the towns of Majadahonda and Pozuelo (both close to Madrid) and that "didn't have any responsibility in electoral material."

He also said that upon taking over the party leadership in 2004, Rajoy had stopped working with companies related to Francisco Correa.
