BAKU, July 22 (Xinhua) -- Iranian and Kazakhstani naval vessels arrived in Azerbaijan's territorial waters on Saturday, Azerbaijan's Defense Ministry said.
The Iranian Paykan and Joshan missile boats and Kazakhstan's rocket-artillery ships Kazakhstan, Sary-Arka and the hydro graphic vessel Zhaik have berthed at a Baku port, the ministry said in a statement.
The warships will take part in the international Sea Cup 2017 competition to be held in the territorial waters of Azerbaijan in the Caspian Sea on August 1-11, according to the statement.
The competition will involve warships of Azerbaijan, Russia, Iran and Kazakhstan.
The competition will be held in three stages, namely artillery fire, fighting for the survivability of the ship, and rescue and maritime training, the Azerbaijan Defense Ministry said in March.
In June, Baku hosted a planning conference of the international contest Sea Cup 2017 with the participation of Azerbaijani, Russian and Kazakhstani naval forces' representatives.
The conference highlighted the rules of the contest, security issues, as well as social and cultural events to be organized during the competition.
