LOS ANGELES, July 21 (Xinhua) -- Two California driver's licenses belonging to O.J. Simpson, the former U.S. football superstar and suspect of the murder case of his ex-wife, would be auctioned in October, NBC LOS Angeles reported Friday.

California-based SCP Auctions announced it Thursday, hours after a four-person parole board in Nevada voted unanimously to release Simpson, who had been staying behind bars since 2008 for leading a group of five into a Las Vegas hotel and casino to rob sports memorabilia that he claimed were his 10 years ago.

The two cards included Simpson's license from 2000 and another one issued June 8, 1995, four months before Simpson was acquitted of the 1994 double murder. The trial was called the most publicized in U.S. history by USA Today and gripped millions of Americans for 11 months.

On June 13, 1994, Simpson's ex-wife Brown and her friend Ronald Goldman, a restaurant waiter, were found dead outside Brown's home in Los Angeles.

Blood and evidence were found nearby at Simpson's home, and a warrant for his arrest resulted in a nationally-televised standoff where Simpson threatened to kill himself and fled in a Ford Bronco followed by a dozen helicopters and hundreds of police vehicles.

Terry Melia, spokesman for the auction house, was quoted by NBC as saying that the one that was issued during the trial, in 1995, should certainly attract more bids and thus go for a higher price, so he expected the 1995 I.D. to sell for 5,000 U.S. dollars or more and the 2000 I.D. to cap off at 1,500 U.S. dollars.

The driver's licenses was scheduled to be open for bidding on Oct. 4.

"Now that Simpson was just granted parole, he will be released in early October, which is precisely when our online auction begins," Melia told NBC.
