SANTIAGO, July 20 (Xinhua) -- The Chilean government launched on Thursday an online platform to gather the entirety of the country's research into climate change.
In a statement, the Ministry of the Environment said the tool aims to be "an online digital instrument that gathers and orders all the relevant information."
"The creation of this portal meets with the measures stipulated in the National Climate Change Action Plan...including studies, reports, information, and other materials associated with the topic and allow the connection of other information systems that provide relevant information," added the note.
The portal addresses the need to bring together state analysis and diverse projects tackling climate change in Chile.
Through it, visitors can access Chile's entire meteorological database since 1980 and learn about climate projections until 2050.
Last week, the Chilean government rolled out its National Climate Change Action Plan, which seeks to reduce global warming in line wit the Paris Agreement on climate change.
As part of Action Plan, Chile has committed to reducing its carbon emissions by 30 percent by 2030.
In September 2016, Chile signed the Paris Agreement and has taken measures to lower its carbon footprint, such as green taxes, a new recycling law and the creation of South America's largest protected marine reserve, Nazca-Desventuradas.
