WASHINGTON, July 20 (Xinhua) -- The ongoing blockade by four Arab countries had no damage to Qatar's economy, the Qatari ambassador to the United States has said.

The Qatari economy is solid and can "continue like this forever," Meshal bin Hamad Al-Thani told CNN on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Al-Thani also noted that Qatar is looking forward to having this crisis resolved quickly, as it is "counterproductive for everyone."

Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt and Bahrain cut ties with Qatar on June 5, accusing it of supporting extremism and terrorism, an allegation which Qatar has denied.

On June 23, the four countries issued a list of 13 demands to end the rift with Doha, including closing Al-Jazeera television and cutting Qatar-Iran diplomatic ties.

Since Qatar's response seemed unsatisfactory, the Arab quartet have decided to maintain their sanctions against Qatar.

Earlier this week, the four seemed to have modified their demands, urging the tiny Gulf nation to commit to six principles on combatting extremism and terrorism and negotiate a plan with specific measures to implement them.
