BAGHDAD, July 18 (Xinhua) -- Iraqi security forces arrested 20 female foreigners, including five Germans, in Mosul city over charges of joining the Islamic State group, local media reported Tuesday.

According to an Iraqi officer, the 20 foreigners are from different countries, including Turkey, Canada and Chechnya.

One of the Germans does not speak Arabic, but she had joined Daesh and fought with its militants after finishing her studies, it said.

They were hiding in a hotel, where they were arrested with weapons and explosive belts in their possession.
