SINGAPORE, July 18 (Xinhua) -- Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) announced a chemical leak incident at a building in Kallang on Tuesday afternoon, which has injured nine people.

The SCDF said on Twitter that the incident was contained within a sealed production room, and was shut off prior to its arrival by the in-built safety system on the premises.

Nine workers were taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital in a conscious and stable condition, said the SCDF. Local media quoted the affected workers as saying that they suffered from skin irritation.

SCDF posted a tweet around 4 p.m. local time, saying no chemical vapour was detected in the production room, and surrounding environment was also safe with no traces of the chemical in the air.
