CAIRO, July 17 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi discussed on Monday the recent developments in the Qatari crisis with visiting Kuwaiti First Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, state-run MENA news agency reported.

Spokesman for Egyptian presidency told MENA that the meeting tackled Kuwait's efforts to solve a number of regional crises, including the month-long diplomatic standoff between Qatar and the Saudi-led bloc which includes Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.

Last month, the four countries severed diplomatic ties with Qatar and cut off sea, land and air links to the tiny rich Gulf nation, accusing Doha of supporting terrorism, interfering in their internal affairs and seeking closer ties with Iran, a Saudi rival.

Qatar has strongly denied the charges against it, while rejecting a list of 13 demands put forward by the bloc for resuming diplomatic ties.

Among the six Gulf Cooperation Council states, Oman and Kuwait, who acts as mediator, did not join the anti-Qatar blockade.

Meanwhile, the spokesman said that Al-Sabah briefed President Sisi on the role Kuwait plays to maintain the unity of the Arabs at this very critical time as the region is facing grave challenges.

The spokesman said President Sisi told Al-Sabah that Egypt's foreign policy is based on the principle of non-interference into the domestic affairs of any country; subsequently it refuses any interference of other countries into its internal affairs.

Sisi also stressed the importance to firmly face all policies meant to support terrorism and destabilize Arab countries, the spokesman added.

Earlier in the day, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry also met Monday with Al-Sabah and conferred over the Qatar with crisis, MENA said.

During the meeting, Shoukry stressed that Egypt is committed to the list of demands submitted to Qatar, adding that the measures taken against the Arab country will continue.

Shoukry added that the Arab quartet sense that Qatar goes on adopting the policy of procrastination, paying no attention to the aspirations of the region's peoples to curb terrorism.
