JAKARTA, July 17 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia has decided to strengthen measures in combating rampant corruption, which has been one of bottlenecks in luring foreign investment and accelerating development, the country's police chief said Monday.
The Southeast Asia's biggest economy will include police in the war against thief of the state's money along with the country's corruption eradication commission KPK, which has been at the forefront.
National police chief Tito Karnavian disclosed on Monday that his institution has been setting up special squads in every province to undertake the mission.
With huge human resources, the general said that participation of police will be very effective in carrying out the task across the country.
Hence, Karnavian said that the country's corruption eradication commission (KPK) whose number of investigators is limited would only focus on handling huge cases only.
Scores of officials from active central bank governor to lawmakers have been sent to jail and are undergoing legal processes for corruption charges.
However, limited number of human resources in the country's KPK has been one of the obstacles in the battle against corruption.
