DUBAI, July 14 (Xinhua) -- The United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Friday strongly condemned a deadly attack targeting a security checkpoint in Egypt, UAE state news agency WAM reported.
"The UAE expresses its deep condemnation of the criminal acts and its principled and permanent rejection of all forms of violence and terrorism," the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation said in a statement.
"The UAE affirms its strong support for the sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt and its steadfast stance on its side in the face of these serious crimes," the statement added.
The ministry also expressed its condolences to the families of the victims, the government and the people of Egypt.
Two policemen and three recruits were killed on Friday in a drive-by shooting by masked gunmen in the Egyptian province of Giza.
