MADRID, July 14 (Xinhua) -- The eighth and final bull-run of the famous San Fermin fiestas wrapped up with nine people injured at the northern Spanish city of Pamplona on Friday, local press Diario de Navarra reported.

Friday saw the fastest bull run of the week with bulls from the Lora del Rio breeders near Seville in southern Spain completing the 875 meters which separate their holding pens in just two minutes and 10 seconds.

That speed meant that all of the injuries were for cuts and bruises sustained during the falls and that none of the hundreds of people running with the bulls were gored.

San Fermin sees the population of Pamplona, which is 250,000 for most of the year, rise to around a million for the nine days of the celebrations. This has an estimated economic income of around 150 million euros (170 million U.S. dollars) for the city.

Early calculations see the visitors' number slightly down this year, perhaps due to fear of a possible terrorist attack. Yet with 3,500 police on duty this year, the 2017 San Fermin celebrations have so far passed without any major incident.
