DAMASCUS, July 13 (Xinhua) -- At least 11 rebels, including five foreigners, were killed by a blast targeting their position in Syria's northwestern province of Idlib, a monitor group reported on Thursday.

One French fighter was among the targeted rebels of the Front for Liberating the Levant, previously known as the al-Qaida-linked Nusra Front.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the blast targeted a spinning factory in Idlib, adding that the death toll could likely rise due to the critical conditions of some of the wounded.

Details surrounding the explosion are still forthcoming.

The London-based watchdog group noted that the blast is the latest in a series of bombings targeting the same rebel group in Idlib.

The al-Qaida-linked group is designated as a terrorist organization by the UN and the international community.
