Jiang Chao, a meteorological observer, checks an automatic rainfall monitor at the national reference climatological station on top of Paomaling of Songshan Mountain in Dengfeng City , central China's Henan Province, July 11, 2017. The national reference climatological station on Songshan Mountain, with a history of 61 years and an altitude of 1,178 meters, is the only high mountain reference climatological station in Henan. 52-year-old Wang Yantao, the head of the station, has been working here for 32 years. In spite of the hardships of working here, like the only transportation to the station is a three-to-four-hour walkway and inconvenience of getting fresh food and water, Wang and nine other younger working staff members devote to their duty and provide accurate meteorological data for weather forecast.
