YANGON, July 12 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar and Cambodia have pledged to launch bilateral cooperation in multi-sectors covering the fields of education, culture, tourism and trade as well as people-to-people exchanges.

The agreement was made during a meeting between Myanmar President U Htin Kyaw and Cambodian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Prak Sokhonn in Nay Pyi Taw Tuesday.

On the same day, Prak also met with State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi on restoration of Mon-Khmer culture and increase of export of agricultural produce to Cambodia.

Sokhonn arrived in the Myanmar capital Monday for a two-day visit.

In early February, Myanmar President U Htin Kyaw visited Cambodia, enhancing cooperation between the two countries.

Later in the same month when Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Hor Namhong visited Myanmar, the two countries signed an agreement on education cooperation for 2017-2021.

In June, tourism authorities of the two countries started planning a joint action plan aimed at boosting tourism industry of the two nations.

The two sides agreed to establish joint marketing efforts to promote new package tours, such as a proposed "Angkor-Bagan, Two Ancient Capitals-One Destination" tour.

Myanmar and Cambodia had signed an agreement on mutual visa exemption for holders of ordinary passports in December 2013.

In February 2011, Myanmar established air link with Cambodia with its Myanmar Airways International (MAI) flying between Yangon and Siem Reap, an ancient city of Cambodia. The flight service was extended to reach Phnom Penh in November in the same year.
