NEW DELHI, July 11 (Xinhua) -- The Indian capital has been put on high alert, following Monday's terror attack in Indian-controlled Kashmir that killed at least seven Hindu pilgrims and injured 19 others.
In an advisory, Delhi police said, "It is advised that proper anti-terror arrangements should be put in place at all vital installations, business establishments and other vulnerable targets, including crowded markets, malls, religious places, metro stations, airport, railway stations etc."
Delhi police also said special anti-terror arrangements have been put in place for the ongoing Kanwar Yatra, which will conclude on July 21. Kanwar Yatra is an annual pilgrimage of devotees of Hindu god Lord Shiva.
"Quick response teams may also be deployed strategically along the route and on halting points," the Delhi police statement said.
The Hindu pilgrims became the victims of the terror attack in Indian-controlled Kashmir after their bus, carrying some 40 of them, got caught in crossfire. The vehicle was returning from the Amarnath Cave pilgrimage site in the state's Anantnag district when the attack took place around 8:30 p.m. local time Monday.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has condemned the terror attack on innocent pilgrims.
The 40-day-long Yatra to the cave of Amarnath began on June 28. The pilgrimage takes place every year under tight security that includes more than 40,000 troops guarding the route and a satellite tracking system.
