Indonesian airlines expands direct flight serving Chinese cities to country

JAKARTA, July 10 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian airlines, Lion Air, is set to open new direct flight from Chinese cities to Indonesia with new route serving Changsha to Batam slated to commence on July 13, the airlines' senior official said.

"Lion Air's maiden direct flight from Changsha to Batam would bring 103 visitors, to land in Batam on July 13. The flight would use a Boeing 737-900 plane," Lion Air Batam Airport Manager Nico Giyansyah said recently.

In the initial period, direct flight from Changsha to the Indonesian city close to Singapore would be served once each week, he added.

The new route would add the airlines' direct flight service from China's Hunan province capital to Indonesia which currently serving routes from Changsha to Indonesia's resort island of Bali three times a week.

Besides serving Changsha, the Indonesian budget airlines has also opened direct flights from other Chinese cities of Shenzhen, Chongqing, Wuhan, Shanghai and Macao Special Administrative Region to Bali.
