LUSAKA, July 8 (Xinhua)-- Zambians have been banned from driving foreign registered vehicles as the southern African nation steps up measures to enhance security, the police said on Friday.
Esther Mwaata-Katongo, the police spokesperson said any vehicle with a foreign number plate and being driven by a Zambian without any justifiable reason will be punished.
The police have also banned the use of unregistered vehicles, she added. The police spokesperson said only unregistered vehicles on transit and accompanied by relevant documents will be allowed on the roads.
"We urge all citizens to comply and help the police in safeguarding peace and security of the country," she said.
