TEHRAN, July 7 (Xinhua) -- Iranian Foreign Ministry on Friday strongly condemned the suicide bomb attack on an army checkpoint in Egypt's northern Sinai, Tasnim news agency reported.
In a statement, Foreign Minister Spokesman Bahram Qasemi offered his sympathies to the Egyptian people and the bereaved families of the victims of the terrorist attack.
Qasemi warned against a new wave of terrorist attacks across the world by the "defeated Islamic State (IS)."
"The dispersal and escape of the terrorists, following their heavy defeats in Iraq and Syria, are a serious threat to the entire region and the world," he added.
At least 10 Egyptian soldiers were killed and 20 others injured Friday in suicide bombing and shooting at an army checkpoint in North Sinai's city of Rafah.
