BUDAPEST, July 2 (Xinhua) -- The Budapest race of the Red Bull Air Race 2017 World Championship concluded here on Sunday with the triumph of the American Kirby Chambliss.
The 57-year-old pilot took the lead at 1:00.632 minutes before the Canadian Pete McLeod at 1:00.740, and the Japanese Yoshihide Muroya at 1:01.188, who leads the overall board, came third in Budapest.
Chambliss won the race for the second time in Budapest, after securing the gold in 2004. He claimed his first victory since the London race in 2008.
In the overall standing, Muroya is first with 39 points, followed by Czech Martin Sonka with 37 points and Pete McLeod with 26 points.
Budapest is a true spectacle on the race calendar due to the unique start for the Master Class pilots. They began their run into the track by flying under the iconic Chain Bridge.
Split across the Danube, it's a city of two halves - Buda and Pest.
