KABUL, July 1 (Xinhua) -- Up to 13 militants including five loyal to the hardliner Islamic State (IS) group have been killed as Afghan government aircrafts pounded the militants' hideouts in the conflict-hit country over the past 24 hours, said a statement of Interior Ministry on Saturday.

"In past 24 hours, 13 armed militants including five Islamic State group members have been killed after Afghan Air Forces targeted militants' hideouts in the Khowaja Khil village, Barmal district of Paktika, Qora Qol village, Sayad district of Sar-e-Pul and Aqsai village, Qosh Tipa district of Jowzjan province," the statement asserted.

Weapons and vehicles belonging to the armed militants were also destroyed during the air raids, the statement added.

Neither Taliban nor IS has made comment on the report.
