YANGON, July 1 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar's Aung La N Sang won middleweight title in a rematch with Russian Vitaly Bigdash at the ONE Championship at Thuwunna National Indoor Stadium here on Friday.
The "Burmese Python" Aung La dropped Bigdash with a massive strike in the opening round and made Bigdash in a desperate defensive mode for the majority of the five-minute frame.
"I cannot do this without you, Myanmar! I'm not talented. I'm not fast. But with you, I have courage, I have strength, and now I've won the World Title!" Aung La said with tears at the post-match interview as a winning speech.
This contest was a rematch of an exciting match from ONE Championship in January, which Bigdash has won. ONE Championship is widely recognized as the biggest MMA (mixed martial arts) promotion in Asia.
