MANAMA, June 29 (Xinhua) -- Bahrain police said Thursday that they foiled a terror operation with links to Iran after discovering a weapon depot located in Al Dair village.
Public Security Chief Major General Tariq Al Hassan said the counter-terrorism operation, codenamed The Axe, has arrested members of the terrorist organization Saraya Al Ashtar.
He said they also discovered bomb-making equipment and high-grade explosives at the weapon depot.
"Preliminary investigation revealed that members of the terrorist group filmed video of how to make bomb and then sent them to leaders of the group in Iran," Maj. Gen Al Hassan said at a press conference on Thursday.
An investigation is underway to find out whether the group had any link to other terrorist cells operating in the Kingdom," he said.
