Senior political advisors call for more efforts on supply-side reform

BEIJING, June 27 (Xinhua) -- China's senior political advisors Tuesday urged more targeted measures to speed up supply-side reform.

The 21st meeting of the Standing Committee of the 12th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) held a plenary session on Tuesday afternoon on supply-side reform and stable development of the economy.

A total of 14 members offered suggestions.

Li Yining, a senior economist suggested reform of state-owned enterprises to improve allocation of state capital.

Liu Mingkang, former head of the China Banking Regulatory Commission, suggested serious study of reforms to the financial market, financial institutions and financial regulation to guard against systemic risks.

Qian Keming, deputy commerce minister, called for a more open economy and a higher level of two-way opening-up.

The meeting opened Monday in Beijing. Senior political advisors will discuss six topics on supply-side structural reform, review reports, and examine administrative and personnel issues.
