VIENTIANE, June 26 (Xinhua) -- The Lao taekwondo team has begun an intensive 20-day training camp in South Korea in the hope of boosting their medal count at the upcoming 29th SEA Games in Malaysia this August, according to Lao state-run media Vientiane Times on Monday.
Some 11 taekwondo fighters from different categories departed for South Korea on Sunday while another six fighters and their South Korean coach left for the training camp earlier last week.
Following their return from the South Korean training camp, the Lao team will continue training in capital Vientiane before travelling to compete at the games in Malaysia.
The Lao taekwondo team won one gold and four bronze medals at the 27th SEA Games in Myanmar in 2013, while it won one gold, three silver and five bronze medals at the 26th SEA Games in Indonesia in 2011. Enditem
