CAPE TOWN, June 26 (Xinhua) -- The following are news items in South African major news outlets on Monday.

-- A whistleblower has made a series of explosive allegations against the Department of Correctional Services (DCS) and the SA Security Solutions and Technologies (SASSTEC) group.

Former SASSTEC employee Ryan Bettridge alleges extensive collusion between DCS officials and SASSTEC in the run up to the awarding of a R378 million (29 million U.S. dollars) tender for what is known as the Integrated Inmate Management System (IIMS) - a software solution to keep track of South Africa's 160,000 strong prison population. -- South Africa's economy has caused it to decline significantly on the 2017 Fragile States Index and the country is no longer regarded as stable.

The Fragile States Index is an annual ranking of 178 countries based on 12 social, economic and political indicators that measure their susceptibility to instability. A reduced country score indicates relative stability, while a higher score indicates instability. (Fin24)

-- Scores of young people under the banner of the South African Youth Alliance from across the country gathered in Durban on Sunday to discuss issues that affect them.
