TOKYO, June 26 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks advanced slightly Monday morning as U.S. tech shares' rally at the end of last week set a positive tone, which was reinforced by the yen's retreat against the U.S. dollar.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 24.75 points, or 0.12 percent, from Friday to 20,157.42.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 1.83 points, or 0.11 percent, to 1,613.17.
Mining, nonferrous metal, and iron and steel-linked stocks comprised those that gained the most by the morning break.
