ATHENS, June 25 (Xinhua) -- Seven years into the acute debt crisis that brought Greece at the brink of financial meltdown, most Greeks today prefer an effective growth model to overcome the debt crisis rather than Grexit, the results of an opinion poll released on Sunday showed.

In the survey conducted by Kappa Research for Vima (Tribune) newspaper, 52 percent of respondents believe an effective growth model able to push Greece forward should be the country's priority now.

Only 22.5 percent of participants said they preferred Grexit and 19.5 percent asked for an immediate end of the bailout programs.

The current bailout, the third Greece signed with international creditors since 2010, is scheduled to end in mid 2018, but 76 percent of respondents in Vima's survey don't believe that Greece is getting near the end of bailouts.

Meanwhile, six out of 10 Greeks said they don't expect significant economic growth in the coming years.

About taxation, 53 percent of respondents said they want a reduction of VAT rates, while 44 percent hoping for a reduction of income taxation rates.

Should national elections were held today, according to the poll, the conservatives of the main opposition New Democracy party would win with 31.8 percent of votes against 22.2 percent that the ruling Radical Left SYRIZA party would receive.
