THE HAGUE, June 24 (Xinhua) -- Dutch foreign ministry has considered the release of the two kidnapped Dutch journalists in Colombia as "very good news," the ministry said in a statement on Saturday.
"We have been in contact with Colombian authorities constantly," Dutch Foreign Minister Bert Koenders said. "They worked so hard. I am grateful for their contribution. I am glad this kidnap has come to an end."
The two journalists, presenter Derk Bolt and his cameraman Eugenio Follender, were in Colombia for their television program Spoorloos, in which relatives who lost each other or have never seen together are united.
Bolt and Follender were held last Saturday on a road in the Catatumbo region in northern Colombia. In this area close to Venezuela, all kinds of armed militia are active. The National Liberation Army (ELN) claimed to be responsible for the kidnapping.
According to the statement, the two journalists were released on Saturday in good health.
