ADDIS ABABA, June 23 (Xinhua) -- Ethiopian security forces have assured African leaders for the peaceful deliberations of the upcoming 29th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the Heads of State and Government of the African Union (AU) to be held in Ethiopia's capital Addis Ababa.

The summit, scheduled on July 3 and 4 at the AU headquarters in Addis Ababa, will be held under the theme of "Harnessing the Demographic Dividend through Investments in Youth."

The Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Addis Ababa City Administration, in a joint press communique issued on Friday, assured that the East African country has completed all the necessary security preparations, including facilities that are essential for the peaceful deliberation of the summit.

Part of the Horn of African region, noted for its unstable security conditions, Ethiopia has successfully hosted a number of high-level meetings including previous AU summits and other regional and internationals conferences.

Despite recent internal violent demonstrations that Ethiopia had faced during much of 2016 and regional terrorism treats, the country had also peacefully hosted the 28th AU Summit in January.
