MINSK, June 22 (Xinhua) -- Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko on Thursday called on the member states of the Central European Initiative (CEI) to build bridges between integration structures on the continent.

"The countries located between Europe and Asia should take on more responsibility in guaranteeing regional stability," he said at a meeting with the foreign ministers and heads of national delegations of the CEI member states.

The Belarusian leader also said it much depends on whether these countries will become a dividing line between the world centers of power or a link between them.

"Now, we don't need to build new iron curtains. It's essential for us to make efforts to build bridges between various integration structures on the continent," Lukashenka stressed.

Lukashenko said that it is important for Belarus to develop cooperation with both the East and the West.

He said the foreign policy of Belarus has a multi-vector and peaceful nature, adding that Belarus seeks to build friendly, mutually beneficial relations with all countries.
