BRUSSELS, June 21 (Xinhua) -- A police operation was in progress on Wednesday morning in Belgian city of Antwerp to find a gunman seen by pedestrians, the local police informed via Twitter.
In the end, the incident turned out to be a false alert.
Antwerp's train district was locked down by police authorities on Wednesday morning for identity controls after some pedestrians told the police they saw someone with a gun.
Local media say three people were arrested in Antwerp for possession of fake weapons early in the day.
"There is no danger," said the local police. But inhabitants of the surroundings are advised to stay at home at the moment.
