MINSK, June 20 (Xinhua) -- Belarus will purchase a batch of Sukhoi Su-30SM jet fighters from Russia, the Belarusian Defense Ministry said on Tuesday.
With the purpose of renewing the fleet of combat aircraft, Belarus has signed a contract with Russia on buying a batch of Su-30SM aircrafts.
The contract will be implemented in stages in accordance with the terms specified in the contract.
The supermaneuverable Su-30SM fighter of the 4+ generation is intended for gaining air superiority, blocking enemy airfields at great depths, destroying air, land and sea targets at any time and in any weather.
