GUANGZHOU, China, June 19 (Xinhua) -- Russian U20 women's volleyball team extended their unbeaten run to three games at the BRICS Games, rallying from 0-2 behind to overcome arch-rival Brazil 3-2 here on Monday.

"We didn't get into the match well from the beginning, but we didn't give up even when we fell 0-2 behind. The Brazilian players didn't continue their form in the last three sets and gave us the chance. You will never know the result before the match comes to the end," said Alexander Krasilnikov, the assistant coach of the Russian team.

As potential title contenders for the upcoming U20 World Championships to be held in Mexico next month, both teams took the game as a chance to get familiar with each other.

The clash seemed to be a one-sided match when the Brazilian girls easily took the first two sets 25-18, 25-21. But the Russian gradually backed on track and levelled the score 2-2, including a 11-2 scoring run in the forth set.

"It was a close game today, Russia is really a tough team. Our players had flew over 20 hours to come here, maybe they were too tired. If we get enough rest, we can do better," said Hairton Cabral de Oliveira, the head coach of Brazilian team, "We will go through the match when we back to the hotel, and get ready for the game with China tomorrow."

Brazil could have won the match in the fifth set when they led 14-13 and were only one point away from the victory, but the tenacious Russian players scored three points in a row to pocket the triumph. Enditem
