Uganda gears up for 2017 International Woodball Open

KAMPALA, June 19 (Xinhua) -- Uganda has received the financial boost from China as it prepares to host the 2017 International Woodball Open Championship late this month.

Collins Ssemanda, the Secretary General of the Uganda Woodball Federation, told Xinhua in an interview on Monday that they received 11,000 U.S. dollars from the Chinese embassy.

He said the money would go towards catering for the awards, attire among others.

The Championship, which is the fifth edition, will take place on June 29-July 2 at Kisubi Beach, 40km south of the capital Kampala.

The foreign teams expected to attend are from China, Hong Kong, China, South Korea, Malaysia, Nepal, Pakistan and Singapore.

Those from Africa include Kenya, Tanzania, Comoros, Rwanda, Burundi, Nigeria, Democratic Republic of Congo and hosts Uganda.
